Why should I join the PTA?
The PTA helps to create community at LeConte.
LeConte Parents, Guardians and Friends: We want all of our students to go to college! A new college scholarship has been started at the Berkeley Public Education Foundation to support one or more LeConte students who graduate from Berkeley High School and need help paying for college.
The LeConte Neighborhood Scholarship fund was started by long-time LeConte volunteer Jim McGrath to help the students who inspired him as a tutor. It will begin paying out scholarship funds in 2013, when the first kids Jim worked with will graduate from Berkeley High. The criteria for selection will be:
1) The student attended LeConte for at least a year
2) The student demonstrates financial need, followed by academic performance
3) If there is more than one qualified student, preference will be for students with demonstrated interest in marine science, marine biology, or other science.
The scholarship will be advertised to Berkeley High seniors, so please remember to apply!
We invite you to help support the LeConte Neighborhood Scholarship. The larger this fund grows, the more students who can be supported. Will you consider making a one-time or annual gift?
LeConte Students: We want all our LeConte students to aspire to college, so work your hardest and perhaps this scholarship one day will help you fulfill your dreams.
